The Podcast · lived · passed on
How it was handed to you.
Long conversations with Muslims about the inheritance they received, the way they live it now, and what they intend to hand on. Elders, reverts, imams, builders, and people whose names nobody knows.
Season one is in production. Nothing has been published yet, so there is nothing here to press play on. When there is, this page will change.
Our tradition has always cared who you heard it from. This is that instinct, with a microphone.
The shape of an episode
Three questions, one guest, no rush.
What was handed to you
Who taught you, what house you came up in, what you were given before you could choose any of it.
How you carry it now
The ordinary week. The part nobody posts. What it costs, and what it has been worth.
What you are handing forward
To children, to students, to a community — and what you hope survives you.
Why there is nothing to listen to yet
We are recording the whole season before we publish any of it.
A show that opens with one episode and then goes quiet for six weeks reads as abandoned, and it should. So we are banking a season first, editing it properly, and starting only when we can keep a rhythm you can rely on.
This is season one — the beginning of this show, not the continuation of anything. There is no back catalogue to work through, and we are not going to invent one.
You will notice there is no "follow" button on this page, and no platform badges. A follow button that leads to an empty feed is a small lie, and we would rather have the empty space than tell it. Those links appear the day there is something behind them.
If you want to know when it opens, say so and you will get exactly one email.
Guests
You do not have to be well known.
We are looking for people with something real to hand on: an elder who held a community together, a revert twenty years in, an imam who has buried and married three generations, a mother who taught six children to read.
What it involves
One recorded conversation, remote, in one sitting. We send the questions in advance because ambush is not a value of ours. You get the recording, and nothing goes out that you are unhappy with.
The conversations
Season one, in order.
Every episode gets a page here with the whole conversation written out, not a summary. Most people will read rather than listen, and a transcript is the part that survives, that can be searched, and that a grandchild finds in thirty years.
The first conversation
Recorded when it is recorded. Nothing is listed here before it exists, and nothing here is a placeholder for a person we have not actually sat with.
Nothing has been recorded yet. When the season is banked, each conversation appears here with its transcript, and the follow links below switch on the same day.
Listen where you already listen
There are no platform links here yet, and that is deliberate — a follow button that leads to an empty feed is a small lie. They appear the day there is something behind them, and the feed will live at an address on this domain so it can never be taken away from us.
One email, once
Be told when season one opens.
No list rental, no drip campaign, no countdown timer. A single message when there is something worth your time.
